Moonbirds creator Proof has unveiled a new Ethereum-based NFT collection known as Mythics and which will be available to holders of Proof-supported NFTs. The collection is an evolution of the popular Moonbirds NFTs and features generative images of fictitious birds which differ in appearance from those in the original Moonbirds collection. Mythics have a unique reveal schedule that is estimated to last for about six months.
Nest Your Moonbird for a Mythical Egg
The collection houses 20,000 collectibles which have a rather uncommon minting process. To receive a Mythics NFT, a holder of Moonbirds collectibles need to stake their bird in what Proof calls nesting for it to ‘lay’ a mythical egg that when incubated gives rise to a Mythics NFT.

Those holding Oddities NFTs, another collection by Proof, on the other hand, need to burn their collectibles to qualify for the new NFTs. Proof will be randomly selecting 50 eggs to be hatched for Moonbirds holders and an equal number of eggs for Oddities holders each day, making it a total of 100 Mythics being minted every day.
Mythics holders will control their holdings’ intellectual property rights and will qualify for other perks such as attending physical experiences, voting for projects and earning loyalty points from a yet-to-be-launched rewards program.
Azuki Accused of Duplicating Artworks
The new collection comes three months after Proof announced the Moonbirds: Diamond Exhibition collection to celebrate Moonbirds holders who like staking their collections. It also comes a few weeks after collectors accused Azuki of releasing a new collection featuring collectibles identical to the original Azuki NFTs.
With the Mythics mint process taking roughly six months, it’s likely scammers will try to manipulate the long mint period to their favor.
