- Yuga Labs has sold Legends of the Mara and HV-MTL NFT games to Faraway
- Faraway will continue the games’ development and manage their NFTs and community
- Yuga Labs said the move is intended to help it concentrate on its other projects like Otherside
Leading web3 company Yuga Labs has sold two of its NFT games, HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara (LoTM), to blockchain gaming-focused firm Faraway. The sale included the intellectual property (IP) rights of the games, meaning that Faraway will be fully responsible for the future developments, community and NFTs associated with the games. The Bored Ape creator disclosed that it offloaded the games to enhance its focus on its other creations, an indication that it’s likely to load its remaining games, Otherside and Dookey Dash, with cutting-edge features.
Opening the Next Chapter
According to Yuga Labs CEO Greg Solano, the move puts the two games in “the best position to reach new heights,” noting that Faraway has a team knowledgeable in web2 gaming, something that will help take HV-MTL and LoTM to the next level.

Solano disclosed that Yuga Labs’ gaming lead Spencer Tucker will join Faraway as its new product lead to help with the transition and the games’ continuity. The two companies will however work collaboratively to ensure the games remain connected to other Yuga products.
This isn’t the first interaction between the two web3-focused firms. In the past, Yuga Labs has involved Faraway in the development of its games including during the reincarnation of its Bored Ape-powered game Dookey Dash.
Yuga Labs Doesn’t Sell, it Acquires
The decision to sell the games was somewhat unexpected considering that Yuga Labs is a superior force in the industry and is known to acquire web3 projects and companies to enhance or expand its product offering.
With Yuga Labs offloading the two games and its chief gaming officer joining Faraway as product lead, it’s likely Yuga Labs is gearing up to acquire Faraway.
