- Web3 game Fantasy Top has announced it’s expanding from Blast to Monad
- The Monad-based version will be free-to-play unlike its Blast counterpart
- Monad is a newly launched EVM-compatible layer one blockchain
Blockchain game Fantasy Top has revealed it’s launching a free-to-play version on the newly launched EVM-compatible network Monad. The game will be a replica of its paid version powered by Ethereum scaling layer Blast. Fantasy Top said expanding to Monad “is the first step” in achieving a daily active user base of 100,000 and making the game “more accessible than ever,” which comes as more web3 and DeFi projects expand to more networks to increase their user base.
“No Barriers, Just Pure Competition”
In an X post, Fantasy Top said the Monad version doesn’t have entry barriers adding that players are open to compete for rewards. Some of the rewards include tickets, and liquidity tokens, and the network’s testnet token fMON.

To participate in the competition, players must register and collect tickets by “competing in events, joining giveaways, and opening shiny packs on the legacy app.” Players will also compete for “whitelist spots for the most hyped NFT collection” on the blockchain.
According to Fantasy Top’s pseudonymous creator Travis Bickle, the partnership presents an opportunity to expand the boundaries of “what on-chain experiences can achieve at scale.” Bickle described Monad as the “fastest EVM [Ethereum Virtual Machine] layer 1.”

Blockchain Projects Expand To Attract Users
Fantasy Top’s move comes as other blockchain and crypto projects expand their presence on multiple chains to woe more users. NFT marketplaces like OpenSea have in the past added support for multiple blockchains to increase their user base. DeFi platform Uniswap recently expanded to 12 blockchains in a quest to rule DeFi.
Other projects opt to abandon one network for another. NFT project Doodles, for example, launched DoodlesTV on Base, instead of Flow, its first network. Doodles had previously abandoned Ethereum for Flow.
With Fantasy Top launching a free version, it’s to be seen whether its Blast users will choose to cross over to Monad.
