This week’s Web3 Woundup features Bruce Lee fighting in the metaverse, Binance opening up its AI artist and a British Museum NFT collection on the way.
Variety is the spice of life, after all.
Binance Launches Bixel to Everyone
Binance this week has permanently opened the door of its AI-based NFT generator to all its verified users. The NFT tool allows users to create unique artworks which are hosted on the exchange’s own blockchain known as BNB Smart Chain.
Dubbed Bixel, the platform has been in beta mode since March under the name Bicasso which saw the exchange attract plagiarism accusations from a similar project with an almost similar name.
British Museum Planning NFT Collection
The British Museum this week announced plans to create an NFT collection with the help of metaverse platform The Sandbox and French firm LaCollection. The London-based cultural institution will also tap into the partnership to develop a virtual space inside The Sandbox game to add to its quest to birth immersive experiences for its visitor.
The museum hopes the collection will allow it to attract a new audience and help it advance its “museum of the world, for the world” mission.
Bruce Lee Fights Back in the Metaverse
Legendary martial artist Bruce Lee will soon return to life in the metaverse where he will teach martial arts, thanks to a tie-in with metaverse platform Byte City NFT marketplace Magic Eden.
The two outfits this week announced that they have teamed up to mark 50 years since Lee’s 1973 passing, with the users able to mint avatars on the Polygon and Ethereum blockchains in order to take part.
Minted avatars will be available for use on a metaverse game available on mobile devices and through web browsers. The metaverse platform has also partnered with the legend’s daughter, Shannon Lee, who believes that the move will give Lee’s fans an immersive chance to commemorate him.
