Leading sneaker maker Adidas has partnered with web3 artist Fewocious to launch a phygital NFT collection known as Trefoil Flower. The collection will go live next week Thursday, June 22 only on OpenSea and will allow collectors to order the physical sneaker after minting an NFT. The phygital collection comes two months after the apparel heavyweight released the ALTS by Adidas collection.
Adidas will Offer a Discount to a Select Few
Trefoil Flower will feature 4,500 collectibles that will be the key to ordering a customized physical sneaker known as Adidas Originals Campus 00S. Although the collection will drop on June 22, collectors will have to wait until August to request the physical sneaker and wait another extra month to receive the sneaker. Redeeming an NFT for a physical sneaker upgrades the Trefoil Flower NFT for use in upcoming projects.

According to Adidas, each delivered sneaker will have a tag that can be scanned and reveal the corresponding collectible. Holders of a section of NFTs by Adidas or the web3 artist will be privileged to mint the new collection at a discounted rate of 20%.
Adidas Joins Puma, Nike and Louis Vuitton in the Phygital World
The collaboration adds to Fewocious’s long list of partnerships in the space, including one with the David Bowie estate. Adidas is following in the footsteps of Nike, Puma and Louis Vuitton who have also announced physical goods that can only be ordered by first minting an NFT.
However, Nike is leading the pack in web3 initiatives that include an NFT marketplace and a partnership with Electronic Arts to offer in-game collectibles.
With Adidas joining the phygital movement, it’s yet to be seen whether NFT collectors will also be interested in physical sneakers.
