NFT-based game NFL Rivals has reached over one million downloads just two months after being launched. Developed by Mythical Games, the mobile game has managed to beat the ongoing crypto winter season to record such a milestone. Apart from the downloads, the game has also received a positive rating of 4.8 out of 5 from close to 22,000 reviews.

15 Million Matches in Two Months

The high number of downloads comes from the overwhelming uptake the game has received since the day it was launched. In a screenshot shared by Mythical Games CEO John Linden, its first day on App Store indicated NFL Rivals at position one among free apps and position six overall.

According to Linden, the game’s popularity can also be seen from the amount of time players spend on the game which currently stands at roughly two hours each day per player. Players have engaged in about 15 million matches so far.

The executive also observed that the popularity was ignited by not stressing the players with the process of purchasing NFTs despite the player cards being digital collectibles with varying rarity levels and strengths.

Only 10% have Traded NFTs

According to Linden, a gamer receives an NFT wallet during signup which stays dormant until the gamer chooses to buy or sell player cards, something that the executive thinks only about 10% of the gamers have done.

With NFL Rivals recording over a million downloads, it shows the need for web3 game developers to concentrate on players having fun instead of outright monetization to increase the adoption of blockchain-powered games.
