  • A sale through Bitcoin would represent one of the biggest ever purchases in the cryptocurrency

Fancy a brand new, $40 million Gulfstream private jet? Well now you can get one without having to cash out any of your Bitcoin to pay for it! That’s right, after all those years of waiting you can finally find something to do with that 1,875 you’ve got lying around and buy the Gulfstream G650ER from private jet sellers Aviatrade, who’ll gladly take that Bitcoin off your hands without having to wait days for a wire transfer to go through.

As Business Insider reports, the particular Gulfstream jet that Aviatrade is selling is a 2014 Gulfstream G650ER which has spent time in New Zealand and Asia but is now returning to Gulfstream’s headquarters in Savannah, Georgia to await its new owner.

Owning this particular model would put you in the same exclusive club as Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, so you’d be in good company as you go whizzing from country to country at 982 km/h. $40 million is quite a high fee for a six-year-old G650ER, explained by the fact that it has less than 1,200 hours on the clock.

Private Jet or Bugatti Veyron?

The Gulfstream jet is certainly one of the more upmarket things you can buy with Bitcoin, rivalling the cars offered by crypto-accepting website Moon Lambos, which include a Pagani Huayra, Bugatti Veyron, and Ferrari 458, and the $25,000 Hublot watch that can only be bought with Bitcoin.

If someone were to snap up the Gulfstream G650ER and pay through Bitcoin, it would probably represent the biggest ever Bitcoin purchase, although it wouldn’t top the record for the biggest ever Bitcoin transaction – in June this year a Bitcoin whale transferred $2.2 billion worth of the cryptocurrency from one wallet to another.
