Legendary martial artist Bruce Lee has gotten another life in the metaverse where he’ll teach martial arts. The reincarnation was made possible by metaverse platform Byte City in partnership with NFT marketplace Magic Eden to mark 50 years since Lee died in 1973. The metaverse platform will avail Polygon and Ethereum-powered avatars that can mint to interact with the legend.

An Immersive Chance to Celebrate a Legend

Minted avatars will be available for use on a metaverse game available on mobile devices and through web browsers. The metaverse platform has also partnered with the legend’s daughter, Shannon Lee, who believes that the move will give Lee’s fans an immersive chance to commemorate the legend.

In a statement last month, the daughter said that the game presents a “beautiful way to honor his memory and keep his spirit alive.” However, this isn’t the first time the martial artist is being celebrated in the web3 world. In April, Lee’s daughter, for example, was involved in the creation of The House of Lee NFTs featuring the legend.

David Bowie and Whitney Houston Also Re-emerge on the Blockchain

Lee is not the only popular figure seeking re-emergence on the blockchain. The David Bowie estate, for example, has also released an NFT collection to celebrate the legendary British pop artist. Others that have followed this route include Biggie Smalls and Whitney Houston’s estate.

With Lee being a popular martial artist even after his death, it’s to be seen whether that popularity will crossover to the web3 world.
