  • Blockaid will offer “real-time ecosystem monitoring”

The Sui Foundation and blockchain security firm Blockaid have partnered to increase the security of Sui-based wallets and provide real-time monitoring. Blockaid will also collaborate with the Sui blockchain team to thwart off-chain threats, smart contract exploits, and other security issues. Blockaid noted that the partnership is “part of ongoing security efforts” on the Sui network, a move that may be geared towards attracting more users by improving its security.

Sui Has “Strong Security Backbone”

According to Blockaid, the Sui blockchain has more than 40 million wallets and processed eight billion transactions since its launch two years ago. It noted that the network’s success in such a short timeframe is due to its “strong security backbone,” adding that it’s only “upgrading its security.”

Apart from boosting the protection of Sui users, the blockchain security firm will also provide additional threat research and capabilities to detect operational faults to support the Sui team’s efforts.

DefiLlama data shows that Sui has $1.1 billion in total value locked in DeFi platforms. Sui-based DEXs have a 24-hour volume of $181 million. Although the amount is significantly lower than Solana’s TVL of $6.6 billion and a DEX volume of $1.4 billion, it shows Sui’s potential and the need for added security.

Sui’s Security Requires an Upgrade

Sui users have previously been victims of malicious activities. In January, for example, on-chain sleuth ZachXBT revealed that a Sui user lost close to $30 million to an attacker. Last year, on-chain security firm SlowMist highlighted the need for added smart contract audits on the network.

Blockaid has in the past partnered with leading wallet providers like MetaMask to increase user security. The Blockaid-Sui Foundation partnership comes six months after Sui blockchain creator Mysten Labs announced a physical web3 gaming device called SuiPlay0X1.

With Sui using Blockaid to upgrade its security, it’s to be seen whether there will be a significant drop in successful hacks and scams on the network.
