Sony’s Soneium blockchain has partnered with venture capital firm Animoca Brands to boost web3 adoption within the anime community. The partnership will see the two combine decentralized identities with anime artworks and run anime-focused campaigns. The collaboration also aims to redefine how Soneium users interact with decentralized applications on the blockchain, something that targets to bring more users to Soneium.

Anime ID on Soneium

Animoca’s Moca Network, an identity-focused platform, will offer its services, including Anime ID, on the Soneium blockchain. Animoca wants to use Anime ID to appeal to anime and manga fans to explore the web3 world.

The partnership will also see the launch of anime-centric campaigns on Soneium to connect anime lovers “to new anime-themed experiences.” The first such compaign is the Anime Art Festival that seeks to showcase anime-based IP, web3 projects, and creators in the space.

According to Animoca’s founder Yat Siu, the collaboration brings “an identity and reputation layer on Soneium.” Siu added that the partnership helps unite the gaming, anime, and the blockchain world, adding that it also powers an interconnected web3 future by creating a “seamless digital ecosystem.”

Anime Can “Infuse the World With Emotion”

Sony’s Jun Watanabe said the cooperation allows “global anime fans” to create, collaborate, “and infuse the world with emotion.” Watanabe described anime as one of the largest entertainment industries, noting that it “presents immense potential.”

The collaboration comes two months after the Soneium mainnet went live. The blockchain’s mission is to infuse web3 technologies into common daily life activities.

Soneium is backed by several reputable firms like digital asset custody platform Fireblocks and stablecoin issuer Circle. The partnership also comes two months after Soneium launched its first music NFT collection known as NUU$HI.

With Soneium partnering with Animoca Brands to create anime-based decentralized identities, it’s to be seen whether the move will boost web3 adoption among anime fans.
