- Fireblocks has integrated support for Sony’s new Soneium blockchain
- This integration enables secure digital asset custody services on Soneium
- The collaboration aims to enhance institutional adoption of Web3 technologies
Fireblocks has announced its integration with Sony’s Soneium blockchain, marking an important moment in the growth of the month-old network. This partnership allows institutions to securely manage digital assets on the Soneium platform, facilitating broader adoption of decentralized technologies. By leveraging Fireblocks’ infrastructure, businesses can now implement secure custody solutions, automate operations, and, in the words of Soneium’s Head of Web3, “engage with Web3 securely and seamlessly.”
Important Moment for Young Blockchain
Soneium, developed through a joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Startale Group, launched its mainnet in January 2025. The platform aims to provide accessible, user-centric solutions that empower individuals, creators, and enterprises to thrive in a borderless digital ecosystem. Built using Optimism’s OP Stack, Soneium supports applications across gaming, finance, and entertainment sectors.
The integration with Fireblocks opens the door for the provision of custody services on the nascent blockchain, which has just $33.6 million in total value locked (TVL) compared to Ethereum’s $56 billion, according to DeFiLlama data. However, Fireblocks’ integration is a sign that well-respected crypto entities are taking it seriously.
We are excited to announce that Fireblocks has integrated @soneium, the Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain built by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint venture between @Sony Group Corporation and @StartaleGroup 🎉

“Pivotal Monemt” for the Crypto Industry
Omer Amsel, Fireblocks’ Head of Web3, emphasized the significance of the Fireblocks-Soneium collaboration in a statement:
Sony’s expansion into Web3 with Soneium is a pivotal moment for the industry—bringing blockchain to mainstream audiences through gaming, NFTs, and digital experiences. Security has been the single biggest barrier to adoption, with over $3 billion lost to crypto hacks in 2024. By integrating Soneium into the Fireblocks Network, we are ensuring that enterprises, creators, and users can engage with Web3 securely and seamlessly.
This partnership underscores the growing importance of secure digital asset management solutions as more enterprises explore blockchain applications. By combining Fireblocks’ security infrastructure with Soneium’s innovative platform, the collaboration aims to drive broader institutional adoption of Web3 technologies, paving the way for a more decentralized and secure internet.
