  • Shopify users can now trade Avalanche-based NFTs directly from the platform
  • The feature is powered by the platform’s blockchain-focused application developed by Venly
  • The option was previously only available to a select few but has now been opened to merchants on the platform

Leading e-commerce platform Shopify will allow merchants to trade NFTs powered by Avalanche. This is after an NFT app developed by Venly added support for digital collectibles minted on the blockchain. Details about the features indicate that users won’t need a pre-existing wallet on the blockchain as one would be automatically created for them during the purchase process.

Purchase NFTs with a Credit Card on Shopify

According to the NFT mining app developer, those purchasing Avalanche NFTs on Shopify have the option to pay either with cryptocurrency or fiat, with purchased collectibles available for transfer to other wallets.

Speaking to Decrypt, Venly’s CEO Tim Dierckxsens said that the option was previously available to NFT creators and brands but its demand has forced the company to open it up to all Shopify merchants. The executive added that the Shopify NFT mining app was developed at the request of the e-commerce platform which was looking for an easy-to-use application to take digital collectibles to the masses.

NFTs to Boost Product Authenticity on Shopify

For Dierckxsens, the app represents a huge step in championing for mass adoption of NFTs since it doesn’t require users to understand virtual currency payments. Apart from enabling Shopify merchants to trade NFTs it also allows them to link their products to NFTs to boost authentication, among other features.

The executive revealed that they focus on layer-1 and layer-2 decentralized networks with low transaction costs, making it easy to sell to a “mass market.” Shopify’s move to take NFTs to mainstream users comes two months after Twitter enabled NFT trading through tweets and Meta revealed plans to support digital collectibles on Instagram, an indication that NFTs are slowly entering mainstream adoption despite a slump in the NFT market in 2022.
