Shiba Inu’s Metaverse Outfit Integrates Chainlink Technology

  • Shiba Inu’s metaverse outfit has integrated chainlink technology
  • Known as SHIB: The Metaverse, the outfit intends to use Chainlink’s technology to provide “advanced cross-chain use cases to the metaverse”
  • The integration will allow users to purchase virtual land using SHIB or ETH

Memecoin project Shiba Inu is integrating Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) with its metaverse platform, SHIB: The Metaverse. The integration is meant to enhance “cross-chain use cases to the metaverse” and allow users to purchase virtual land using SHIB or ETH. Shiba Inu launched the metaverse project last week describing it as a “pivotal moment in the digital evolution” that will redefine online communities, something that comes as entities abandon the metaverse for artificial intelligence (AI).

It’s Not the First Shiba Inu-Chainlink Interaction

Chainlink’s CCIP technology supports SHIB: The Metaverse users’ activities on Shiba Inu’s layer 2 network, Shibarium, and Ethereum. This isn’t the first time Shiba Inu is interacting with Chainlink.

On December 19, Shiba Inu announced a partnership with Chainlink “to make Shiba Inu assets available across 12 blockchains” through the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. Commenting on the partnership, Chainlink’s Johann Eid said the collaboration will drive the adoption of SHIB and the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

Shiba Inu’s pseudonymous tech wizard, Kaal, noted that partnering with Chainlink will ignite innovative multi-chain applications. According to Chainlink, its interoperability standard provides secure token transfers, battle-tested security, arbitrary messaging, and programmable token transfers.

Other Memecoin Projects Also Expanding their Boundaries

The integration of SHIB: The Metaverse with Chainlink’s CCIP comes two days after another memecoin project Floki engaged its DAO to allocate a portion of its treasury to an exchange-traded product scheduled to be launched in Europe.

It also comes as the crypto community warms up to memecoins despite not having a clear utility at first. Although interest in memecoin projects withers within a short time, some projects like Floki, Shiba Inu, and Dogecoin have managed to build a loyal following years after launch.

With Shiba Inu launching a metaverse platform and partnering with Chainlink, it’s to be seen whether its community will follow it to the virtual world.
