- A developer claims that the Ethereum Foundation is sabotaging Geth’s growth

Péter Szilágyi, a core developer of the Geth Ethereum client, has accused the Ethereum Foundation of quietly planning to kill the client. Szilágyi claims the foundation is using an assortment of tactics, including funding a clandestine team to create a similar platform. The developer added that the foundation is asking Geth developers to abandon the project or create their own private entities, claims that the foundation has yet to formally respond to.
Refuting Tomasz Stańczak’s Assurances
The developer made the claims while responding to a comment by Tomasz Stańczak, an Ethereum Foundation co-executive director. In the comment, Stańczak was assuring an X user that “there’s no plan to remove Geth.”
There is no plan to remove Geth. It is a great client software and a talented team contributing to protocol security. We will maintain / support Geth and continue making it even better and faster.

Stańczak said that the client software is a critical part of the Ethereum network, adding that the foundation will continue to support it and make “it even better and faster.” Szilágyi commented on the director’s assertions, saying that the foundation offered Geth’s leadership “$5 [million] to spin out.”

The developer also claimed that the foundation started and funded a “100% independent fork” of Geth inside Nethermind, a firm that runs an Ethereum execution client. He continued to state that Stańczak has been hinting at reducing the salaries of the remaining Geth developers as a way to force them to abandon the project.
Geth Got Szilágyi Fired?
According to Szilágyi, the battle of keeping Geth alive was the reason he “was fired from the foundation.” Szilágyi’s claims come at a time when the Ethereum Foundation is revamping its leadership and structure to boost its link with the Ethereum DeFi community.

It also comes as the foundation plans to address scaling challenges and boost the security of the Ethereum network.
With Szilágyi’s glaring claims, it’s to be seen whether the foundation or its employees will clear things up.
