The Ethereum Foundation has officially unveiled a new leadership and structure a few weeks after the Ethereum community criticized the foundation’s team. It announced Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak as the new co-directors, with their tenure starting on March 17. The foundation’s former executive director Aya Miyaguchi will be the new president, a structure the foundation hopes will increase its touch with the community and the ecosystem.
Combining a Researcher and Developer
In a blog post, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) disclosed that Wang has been “a core researcher” at the foundation for seven years and a major contributor to the Ethereum beacon chain. EF also noted that Wang has been an active Ethereum community member, adding that she has a deeper understanding of EF’s “unique role within the decentralized ecosystem.”

The foundation described Nethermind CEO Stańczak as a developer and “a leader with proven results.” According to EF, Stańczak built Nethermind to become one of the leading projects on the Ethereum ecosystem and a “thriving global company.”
The foundation disclosed that it seeks to use Wang and Stańczak’s leadership to transition from serving a “small number of enthusiasts” to becoming a “censorship-resistant base layer” that powers the global finance and “software stack.”
The Community is Happy
A section of the crypto community welcomed the new leadership and its structure with some saying it brings a balance between the “technical and the operational.”Others said they’re excited to see how the two will drive the blockchain’s “next phase of growth.”

The new leadership comes a few weeks after Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced a restructuring of the EF team to “bring in fresh talent”. It also comes two weeks after the foundation invested $120 million into DeFi platforms to boost its connection with the Ethereum ecosystem.
With the Ethereum Foundation welcoming a new leadership, it’s to be seen how Wang and Stańczak will connect with the community and boost Ethereum’s adoption.
