- Circle has unveiled a tool that makes it easier for web2 developers to switch to web3
- Dubbed ‘Smart Contract Platform’ it offers developers code templates, a console and APIs to ease the switch
- The templates can be used to create NFTs and other blockchain-based products or services
Circle has continued its mission to onboard more people into the web3 world with the unveiling of a platform that allows web2 developers to easily create blockchain-based products such as NFTs and loyalty programs. Known as ‘Smart Contract Platform,’ it offers editable code templates, a console and application programming interfaces (APIs) to ease the switch between web2 and web3. The platform marks another attempt by the stablecoin issuer to drive web3 adoption roughly two months after launching a programmable web3 wallet, a sign of increased investment in the blockchain world.
Simplifying Operational Challenges
According to Circle’s Gagan Mac, the platform is part of the company’s efforts to “deliver great customer experiences,” by simplifying “operational challenges that make building [in web3] feel difficult.”

The company disclosed that the smart contract platform offers developers a one-stop-shop to easily and efficiently interact with smart contracts via a “user-friendly interface.”
Currently available to developers on Polygon, Ethereum and Avalanche, the platform is ideal for entities looking to launch blockchain-based products like digital collectibles and DeFi products.
Apart from Smart Contract Platform, Circle also launched ‘Gas Station,’ a tool meant to abstract “blockchain transaction fees for end users.” Essentially, the tool enables developers to pay transaction charges on behalf of their users, to create a “more desirable” experience.

Gas Station Already in Use
The stablecoin issuer noted that the ‘Gas Station’ feature is already being piloted by Grab together with Circle’s Programmable Wallets.
Although it’s too early to measure the success of the two features, they’re likely to ease the process of creating blockchain-based products hence increasing the number of developers switching from web2 to web3.
