Barbie creator Mattel has partnered with Boss Beauties to unveil a new NFT collection meant to popularize Web 3.0 among women. The new collection dubbed Boss Beauties x Barbie will feature collectibles showcasing 13 of Barbie’s numerous careers such as from being a doctor to an astronaut since Barbie’s launch in 1959. Powered by the Flow blockchain, the collectibles will be available in groups of four with each bunch having a mint price of $25.

Crypto Not Accepted

According to Mattel, the digital artworks will not be available for purchase in virtual currencies to ease the process of women owning NFTs.

Although Mattel has already opened the door for the early birds, the collection’s official launch is scheduled for May 18. The rarity level of the collectibles ranges from Super Rare to Exclusive with each group of purchasable collectibles featuring artworks in at least two of the rarity levels.

NFTs with the two highest rarity levels will give holders access to extra perks such as access to limited-edition Barbies. Mattel has also hinted that it’s working on physical goods and the ability for collectors to virtually contact women leaders for career conversations.

Another Shot at Digital Artworks

However, this isn’t Mattel’s first shot at digital collectibles since it has previously launched Barbie-focussed collectibles and also controls the Cryptoys line that recently announced a Star Wars NFT collection.

With Barbie being a popular doll among women and girls, women are likely to follow it into Web 3.0.
