John McAfee has mocked those who are angry at him for bailing on his promise to eat his own dick on national television if Bitcoin didn’t hit $1 million in 2020. The cryptocurrency advocate and alleged murderer took to Twitter on Saturday to reassert that he had been joking back in July 2017 when he promised to consume the appendage if Bitcoin did not hit his lofty target, calling it “crippled crypto-tech” and asking readers if they were “one of the persons who did not see the absurd humor in it”.

John McAfee the Bitcoin Bull

McAfee has on the surface appeared to be a Bitcoin bull over the years, frequently giving six and seven figure price predictions. In July 2017 he made his now famous bet when doubling down on an earlier prediction that Bitcoin would hit $500,000 by 2020:

In December that year, with Bitcoin roaring past $10,000, McAfee upped the stakes, saying that it could instead reach $1 million given its rapid rise. He frequently tweeted about the Bitcoin price and his bet after making it, giving all sorts of reasons why his prediction would come to pass, with none of them seemingly coming off as attempts at humor.

By December 2018 however McAfee was sounding less bullish and started to feed more absurdities into his tweets in order to disguise the fact that he was likely going to be spectacularly wrong:

McAfee Covering His Ass (And His Dick)

Whether his predictions were indeed just a joke only McAfee will know, but it is true that he has never been a fan of Bitcoin from a technological standpoint. As far back as December 2015 he told a libertarian YouTube show that Bitcoin had “tremendous technology problems” and that it would not be the electronic currency that he feels is inevitable. So at least he has previous in that department.

McAfee officially bailed on his Bitcoin to $1 million prediction in January this year, claiming it was a “ruse” to onboard people into cryptocurrency, with plenty of people calling him out for getting swept up in the emotion of the 2017 bull run when making the calls. The inherent absurdity of his bet hid the fact that he was extremely bullish on Bitcoin’s price for many years, and, rather than admit he was wrong, John McAfee has played his ‘it was all a big joke’ hand. This, like his wrinkled, leathery penis, is proving somewhat hard to swallow.
