  • CertiK has tapped Alibaba Cloud to enhance blockchain development security in Asia
  • The blockchain security firm will move 12 of its blockchain apps to the cloud computing platform
  • CertiK will also use Alibaba Cloud to provide web3 services in the region

Blockchain security firm CertiK has disclosed that it has migrated some of its blockchain applications to Alibaba Cloud to better serve its Asian users, enhance blockchain development and offer web3 services in the region. CertiK said that the migration improves its products’ security, cost-efficiency and reliability. Alibaba Cloud has been courting blockchain-focused platforms, an indication that it anticipates web3 to replace web2 applications.

A New Era of Cloud Computing

In a statement, CertiK noted that although cloud computing is a key component in communication technology, blockchain technology marks a new dawn in the cloud computing field due to its security, decentralization and efficiency.

CertiK also noted that blockchain-based cloud computing is more potent since it can seamlessly interact with smart contracts and web3 applications. The blockchain security firm’s co-founder, Ronghui Gu, commented on the migration saying that it aligns with the firm’s belief “in the transformative power of blockchain technology.”

The blockchain security firm disclosed that the migration was conducted through a collaboration between CertiK and Alibaba Cloud teams in a way that didn’t disrupt CertiK’s business continuity.

Alibaba Expanding Blockchain Reach

This isn’t the first time Alibaba is stepping into the blockchain scene. Four years ago, for example, it announced the “Ant Blockchain Open Alliance,” a blockchain platform focusing on small and medium enterprises.

Last year, Alibaba Cloud partnered with the Avalanche blockchain to build a metaverse launchpad. The launchpad aims to provide a virtual place for businesses to interact with their customers.

With CertiK migrating to Alibaba Cloud, it’s to be seen whether the Chinese cloud computing company will develop its own web3 and blockchain applications or it’ll explore the space through partnerships with blockchain firms.
