Bitcoin Set to Make an Appearance on Watford’s Kit VS Arsenal

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Watford FC might not be having the best start to the season, but Bitcoin is sure getting a lot of attention on the back of these games. Sportsbet.io signed the largest-ever deal in Watford’s history to become the club’s main sponsor just before the season kicked off, and now it’s putting Bitcoin on the main stage. For Watford’s game against Arsenal on Sunday, the Bitcoin logo will be on the sleeve of every Watford player – giving it prime placement in front of millions of viewers around the globe.

Bitcoin Taking Over Watford

Watford is quickly becoming the home of Bitcoin in the Premier League, with it taking center stage on the advertising hoardings during the post-match interviews. After the first game of the season eagle-eyed viewers spotted the Bitcoin logo behind Florin Andone as he gave a talk following his matchday heroics. So, not only is Bitcoin taking full advantage of the Watford team, but also the teams that visit Vicarage Road and dismantle the rather underperforming Watford team.

Crypto Coming to the Premier League

Crypto and Bitcoin have both been around in the Premier League for a while now, first making an appearance in the 2018/19 season in the form of a deal between eToro and a number of big clubs – including Tottenham Hotspur. The deal was allegedly paid in Bitcoin, meaning these clubs do have a slice of their budget in Bitcoin. Then OKEx signed a similar deal, getting prime advertising space in a number of big clashes over the 2018 Christmas period.

It’s unlikely that we will see Bitcoin used for Watford’s next transfer, but it could very well be something we see making an appearance in the future. Bitcoin offers teams huge flexibility when it comes to paying the bill for players, so watch this space. Let’s hope Bitcoin can spur on the Watford players and net them their first win of the campaign against Arsenal tomorrow.
