Bermuda to Take Centre Stage

The symposium is a collaborative initiative involving SALT, a global investment platform; Kraken, a leading digital asset exchange; and the University of Wyoming’s Centre for Blockchain and Digital Innovation. The Premier was invited to speak at the event by SALT’s CEO, with Burt set to feature in a key discussion titled “Digital Assets in Bermuda: a Conversation with Premier David Burt.”

During this session, Burt is expected to share his insights into Bermuda’s advanced regulatory approach to digital finance. Additionally, the Premier will engage with industry leaders and policymakers, including US Senator Cynthia Lummis, to discuss the future of the digital asset industry.

Organizers of the symposium have emphasized that the event’s primary goals are to promote forward-thinking in the regulation of digital assets, encourage the development of a decentralized global financial system, and enhance institutional understanding and adoption of blockchain technology.

Country Becoming “Trusted Jurisdiction”

In a statement, Premier Burt told The Royal Gazette that Bermuda has “long been at the forefront of innovation in digital finance,” adding that the country’s “commitment to sound regulation has made us a trusted jurisdiction for high-quality global businesses.” Burt added, “Our presence at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium will allow us to reinforce Bermuda’s role in shaping the future of digital finance.”

Burt also pointed to the successful outcomes of previous engagements, which have attracted major industry players like Coinbase and XBTO to Bermuda, contributing to economic growth and diversification.

He further mentioned the ongoing collaborative relationship between Bermuda and Wyoming, reinforced by a Digital Assets Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021 between the Bermuda Monetary Authority and the Wyoming Division of Banking.
