Blue-skinned legends The Smurfs made their NFT bow this week when an NFT collection called The Smurfs’ Society Legendary Collection was released. According to its creators, the collection is supported by a “collective of Web 3.0 builders” and is among the cartoon’s first steps into the blockchain world.
The Smurfs’ Society Legendary Collection, which has a total of 12,500 collectables with different traits and rarity ratings and features 250 distinct Smurfs, held a 48-hour “the bucket auction” this week for the first 3,000 up for sale.
Jeremy Cowart to Hold Live Mass NFT Mint
Popular photographer Jeremy Cowart this week announced plans to create 10,000 photo NFTs live in 20 minutes. Cowart will shoot unique photos before a live audience and instantly convert them to digital collectables at a time when computer programs are beginning to create generative artworks in seconds.
The event, dubbed Auras, will take place early next month in Nashville, Tennessee and comes less than a week after camera giant Canon announced an Ethereum NFT marketplace dedicated to photographers.
Sotheby’s to Sell Rare 3AC NFTs
Sotheby’s this week revealed plans to auction rare artworks seized from bankrupt hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC). 3AC liquidator Teneo disclosed that they chose to conduct the sale through Sotheby’s because of the auction house’s international reputation, hoping that it will help attract the best prices for the digital artworks.
Teneo disclosed plans to liquidate 3AC’s NFT stash in February, although it stated that the collectables marked for liquidation don’t include those held by 3AC’s subsidiary Starry Night Capital.
