Verge (XVG) Gets Into Bed With PornHub, Announces New Partnership

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Verge (XVG) might not be the biggest cryptocurrency around, but it’s certainly making major headlines in 2018. Not one for being reserved, the Verge Twitter account has been in overdrive lately, teasing a “big” announcement. Yesterday, the big reveal finally happened, as Verge announced that PornHub – the world’s biggest porn site – would be accepting XVG moving forward. Through a flashy promotional video – which you’ll find below – PornHub announced that this new partnership will “build on Verge’s core values of security, anonymity, and practicality, the introduction of this cryptocurrency as a means of payment PornHub signifies an important foray into the future.” Arriving with a song and dance, Verge and PornHub is a partnership that certainly has the potential to make some serious noise.

From VHS to the crypto sphere

For a cryptocurrency to join forces with a pornography brand, the smirks and doubters are expected. But, this move might not be as crazy and “out there” as it seems. History has shown that the adult entertainment sector has been quick to engage with new technologies. Over the years it’s been early adopters of VHS, DVD, credit card payments, and even virtual reality, so the introduction of crypto and blockchain shouldn’t be too surprising. Corey Price (PornHub Vice President) feels that the partnership with Verge is equally beneficial for both parties, “not only is this an exciting announcement for us and the adult entertainment industry, it’s exciting for the crypto space.”

Prioritising the privacy of the people

Verge is a relatively new crypto, gaining noticeable traction over the past 12 months. Labeled the “ultimate privacy coin”, it’s built upon a Bitcoin Blockchain foundation, using I2P and Tor and networks to ensure its anonymity. What’s made Verge feel somewhat different to the wealth of young coins out there is its personable nature, as its social media remains impressively active. Justin Sunerok (Verge founder) believes that this new partnership is an exciting step for XVG, “this deal represents an enormous market with a global reach that will compete with fiat currencies.” Sunerok also noted that adult-focused gaming portal Nataku and adult entertainment production company Brazzers will also start accepting Verge payments.

An XVG free for all

It’s clear from the promotional video that both companies are taking this new partnership seriously. PornHub has announced that it will host a series of gorilla marketing events in both Silicon Valley and New York City. According to a press release, “renowned pornstar Asa Akira in an armored truck and Escalade fleet, as well as Bridgette B and Alix Lynx accompanied by an armada of luxury cars including a Lamborghini, Ferrari, and a Bentley.” Helping promote the new partnership, all three will be giving away XVG.

Following in Playboy’s footsteps

What’s clear is that the adult entertainment sector is actively embracing the crypto market. We recently reported Playboy’s intention to create a crypto wallet that will let viewers to pay for content using cryptocurrency. This wallet will be VIT token focused at first. Verge has made a big, brash, and flashy move by partnering with the likes of PornHub, Nataku, and Brazzers, but we’re sure that this won’t be the last digital currency-pornography partnership we see.
