  • Travala has signed a deal with Agoda which will see Agoda’s 600,000+ hotels available on the Travala site
  • The deal puts Travala “in a league of its own” when it comes to booking and paying for holidays in cryptocurrency
  • A successful partnership could usher in a blockchain holiday booking phenomenon

Travala, the cryptocurrency-friendly travel booking service, has announced a strategic partnership with digital travel platform Agoda that makes Agoda’s 600,000+ hotels available on the Travala platform. The partnership brings the total number of properties available on the booking service to over 2.2 million covering 90,124 destinations in 230 countries and territories.

Travala “In a League of Its Own”

Travala, founded in 2017, has become the world’s leading blockchain-based travel booking system, and this partnership with Agoda is another example of their increased growth. Travala merged with the Binance-owned TravelByBit in May this year, giving them powerful financial backing and influence in the cryptocurrency industry, so it is not a surprise to see them spreading their wings.

Travala has been pro-crypto from the outset, adding USDT to its roster of accepted tokens in January this year, and has expanded hugely since its early days, offering travellers the chance to make their way around the world via crypto with increasing ease. CEO Juan Otero said in a press release announcing the partnership that Travala was now “in a league of its own”, and there certainly doesn’t seem to be much competition.

Agoda Partnership Could Bear Bigger Fruit

Agoda’s Vice-President of Strategic Partnerships Damien Pfirsch was equally as effusive about what his company would bring to the table:

Agoda’s technological expertise and private cloud ensure that partners enjoy best-in-class uptime connection to our supply for a smoother customer booking journey, while our strong and extensive relationships with B2B suppliers and accommodation providers worldwide means that partners like Travala.com’s customers can easily access Agoda’s competitive rates and variety of inventory.

Agoda, which was founded in Thailand in 2005, is owned by Booking Holdings, a NASDAQ-listed company that owns the likes of Booking.com, rentalcars.com, and Cheapflights. With both companies having huge financial backing, a successful partnership between Agoda and Travala could well lead to further exploration of the blockchain holiday booking system in the future.
