- Roblox has denied supporting XRP payments, refuting widespread claims after a Bitpay X post
- BitPay erroneously announced XRP integration with Roblox and other games which many reposted.
- Roblox clarified it does not accept Bitcoin or XRP as payment options
Roblox has categorically denied any plans to support XRP payments, refuting widespread claims that circulated on Tuesday. The gaming platform asserted that any notion of facilitating the purchase of Robux, the in-game currency, with Ripple’s XRP token is “inaccurate” following an X post from BitPay late on Monday. Bitpay posted that users would have the option to employ Ripple’s XRP token for certain games, tagging Roblox and Smite, both popular free-to-play games, in the announcement, which turned out to be erroneous.
Bitpay’s Deletion Comes Too Late
In its since-deleted X post, BitPay stated, “Xsolla now accepts XRP with BitPay as a payment method for their games such as Smite and Roblox.” The post went on to claim, “You can use your favorite cryptocurrency to buy, play, and enjoy gaming like never before.”
Given that Roblox was tagged in this post this naturally led many people to assume a Roblox-XRP tie in, but when questioned about the post (which was removed), BitPay’s CMO, Bill Zielke, explained that the statement was posted in error.
Influencers Spread Fake News
Despite the removal of the X post it still did the rounds in record time, with some erroneously interpreting it as Roblox integrating XRP into its payment system. Notably, a tweet from prominent crypto investor Scott Melker, which garnered approximately 270,000 views, falsely linked Roblox with the cryptocurrency and suggested a more favorable “legal climate” for XRP:
ROBLOX + RIPPLE?
MAJOR GAMING COMPANY INTEGRATES XRP
The integration of $XRP as a payment method by BitPay and Xsolla serves as a pivotal moment in the crypto and gaming industries. It not only enhances XRP’s standing in these sectors but also deepens the existing relationship… pic.twitter.com/UbQbNZRVIG

This post, however, had about as much merit as yesterday’s Bitcoin ETF post from Cointelegraph. Roblox refuted these claims, emphasizing that any notion of a partnership with BitPay to introduce XRP to its gaming community was untrue, clarifying that while Xsolla is indeed one of its payment providers, it does not support cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or XRP as payment methods. Additionally, Roblox noted that BitPay’s X post was removed due to the misinformation it carried.
Xsolla confirmed that it provides a range of payment options for developers to use across their platforms, with BitPay being just one of them but added that it had no involvement in the deleted BitPay post.
