The world has been blessed by Vitalik Buterin and the Ethereum project. It has given rise to a new wave of crypto innovation, as scores of ICOs have been hosted on the platform since its launch. Unlike Bitcoin – whose founder is still a mystery – Vitalik is the inventor of the blockchain project and is the public face of the foundation. However, a series of tweets made by Vitalik hint that he is preparing to step away from the Ethereum Foundation and potentially retire altogether.
While the Ethereum community would miss its charismatic inventor, all good things eventually come to an end. He hasn’t come out and confirmed the rumors directly, but he has hinted on multiple occasions that he is ready to take a step back from the crypto space.
Vitalik Hinting at His Exit
Over on Twitter, Vitalik has been dropping some pretty big hints that he has been plotting his exit for quite some time now. In a series of Tweets, Vitalik suggested that the foundation has been testing and practicing running without him, as he gives less and less input on each new project. In one Tweet he said, “I think ethereum can absolutely survive me spontaneously combusting tomorrow at this point.” And followed it up with, “Already in progress; watch the repos, even much of the research is being done by @dannyryan, @drakefjustin, @icebearhww and others.” This hints that he has an exit plan in mind, so it could only be a matter of time before he says his final goodbyes.

The Hate for Centralization is Real
Vitalik Buterin is quite possibly the king of decentralization, as he stands up for its core values and utterly despises centralized platforms. Earlier in the year, Vitalik Buterin said. “I definitely hope centralized exchanges go burn in hell as much as possible.” This highlights the eccentric developer’s reasons to start the Ethereum Foundation and create the world’s largest decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem. In addition to this, the Ethereum platform has become home to countless ICOs, all pushing the decentralized industry further than ever imagined. Forget Satoshi Nakamoto, Vitalik Buterin is the true father of decentralization.
While it’s still not entirely clear what Vitalik’s plans are, he is definitely looking at taking a back seat. When this does eventually come about, it will be interesting to see how Ethereum as a platform moves forward with others at the helm.
