Craig Wright Tries to Get Kleiman Case Dismissed

Craig Wright has attempted to get his case against Ira Kleiman, brother of Wright’s former business partner Dave Kleiman, thrown out before it has begun. Wright’s lawyers have filed a Motion for Summary Judgement in Wright’s favor listing a number of reasons why it should be dismissed without going to court, while his Twitter mouthpiece Calvin Ayre tried to claim that the filing of Wright’s motion was a reason why Bitcoin dropped 15% over the weekend.

Kleiman “Never Said” He Was in Partnership with Wright

In the filing, Wright’s lawyers make several claims that they say should stop the trail from going to court, among them that Kleiman “never said, or even hinted” that he was mining Bitcoin, or that Wright was his business partner; that Kleiman had no experience in anything related to Bitcoin or blockchain; and called Ira Kleiman’s testimony “uncorroborated hearsay”.

Wright is seeking to get the case thrown out on these bases and others, placing large emphasis on the fact that the purported partnership between Wright and Kleiman was oral in nature and has no written evidence to back it up, as well as the fact that it was established in 2011 and the status of limitations has therefore passed, given that the case was filed in 2018.

Ayre Claims Wright’s Filing Dropped Bitcoin Price

Wright’s supporters, chiefly Calvin Ayre and his mouthpiece CoinGeek, acted as though the motion represented a fait accompli, and that the case would now be dismissed:

Ayre’s CoinGeek added that the motion, which it must be remembered is merely an opinion piece by one party put to a judge, was a “bombshell filing” that “exposes the gaps in Kleiman’s version of events”. Seemingly forgetting that the judge may yet choose to dismiss the motion out of hand and proceed with the suit, Ayre nevertheless added that the motion was the equivalent of “Craig exposing Ira as a fraudster” and, brilliantly, that it was a contributing factor in Bitcoin’s 15% drop over the weekend.

Kleiman’s Lawyers Claim Wright Filed Bogus Bitcoin Addresses

A filing made just days before by Kleiman’s lawyers claimed that Wright produced a knowingly false list of Bitcoin addresses associated with the so-called Tulip Trust in order to avoid the sanctions that would have been imposed had he not produced them. Both these filings are now with the judge in the case, ahead of the proposed July 6 trial date.
