- Coinbase has acquired Spindl, an onchain advertising and attribution platform.
- The exchange hopes that the acquisition can enhance on-chain advertising capabilities for developers
- Spindl’s team and technology will be integrated into Coinbase’s platform
Coinbase has announced the acquisition of Spindl, an onchain advertising and attribution platform, to bolster its blockchain advertising solutions for developers. By integrating Spindl’s team and technology, Coinbase aims to assist developers in achieving viral onchain growth and expanding their reach across the crypto ecosystem. Created by an ex-Facebook ad pioneer, Spindle has been operating since 2022 and will continue to operate as its own entity.
Future of Onchain Ads?
Coinbase announced the acquisition Friday, stating that the integration of Spindl’s technology will provide developers with advanced tools to effectively promote their onchain applications. This move aligns with Coinbase’s strategy to support the growth of decentralized applications by offering robust advertising solutions within the crypto space.
While specific terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, Coinbase emphasized that the addition of Spindl’s team and technology will enable developers to “go viral onchain and find distribution on Coinbase and across the crypto ecosystem.”
Facebook Ad Pioneer Behind Spindl
Spindl was created in 2022 by Antonio Garcia-Martinez, an early member of the Facebook ads team who helped pioneer Facebook’s keyword and audience targeting and its programmatic ad exchange FBX. His pedigree in the space is, therefore, unquestionable.
Coinbase added that the Spindl team “brings unmatched expertise in onchain advertising, helping builders accelerate their reach while bringing more users onchain by connecting builders with both Coinbase users and users across the onchain economy.”
It added that their work will be “crucial to expanding the ways we elevate and support builders, and we’re excited for them to hit the ground running.”
