  • Immutable has announced a feature enabling in-game transactions in web3 games
  • Dubbed “Pre-Approved Transactions,” it reduces the need for gamers to exit their games to sign a blockchain transaction
  • Immutable believes the feature will spur in-game marketplaces and asset trading

Blockchain platform Immutable has announced a new feature that reduces the need for web3 gamers to leave their games to sign transactions. Known as “Pre-Approved Transactions,” the feature supports in-game transactions, which Immutable believes will fuel in-game marketplaces and asset trading. Immutable hopes to use the feature to provide an “immersive, fluid, and uninterrupted” gaming experience, components that have been hindering the mass adoption of blockchain games.

Minimal Technical Overhead

In an announcement, Immutable noted that the feature benefits both players and developers, adding that it comes with “minimal technical overhead” without compromising on a game’s security standards.

According to Immutable, Pre-Approved Transactions reduce friction when interacting with web3 games and abstract the complexity of blockchain technology. The platform added that reduced friction increases player satisfaction and minimizes “support tickets.”

The feature currently supports game-issued assets but Immutable is working to support more assets like USDC and ETH. Developers can create a custom transaction interface that matches their game’s aesthetics.

Immutable’s Pre-Approved Transactions feature comes three months after Immutable partnered with digital assets infrastructure provider Fireblocks, to enhance how web3 game developers manage game assets.

Dedicated to Web3 Gaming

Immutable’s announcement comes four days after Magic Labs and Polygon Labs announced a partnership to create a cross-chain smart wallet to ease transactions across blockchains. Immutable has over the years partnered with multiple firms to push for the adoption of blockchain games.

A year ago, for example, it partnered with Ubisoft to develop a web3 game. It also collaborated with Amazon to extend web3 gaming boundaries. Apart from partnerships, Immutable has released other features to entice gamers to join the web3 space.

With the launch of Pre-Approved Transactions, it’s to be seen whether it’ll help attract gamers to the blockchain world.
