Solana “Chapter 2” Phone Crosses 100,000 Preorders

Reading Time: 2 minutes
  • Solana has confirmed that its new phone, Chapter 2, has received more than 100,000 preorders
  • Punters are banking on more airdrops in order to replicate the success of BONK
  • Technical specifications have not yet been released for Chapter 2

Solana has revealed that it has received 100,000 preorders for its new phone, Chapter 2, noting that it was “grateful for the overwhelming support.” Solana’s first device, Saga, was a massive success thanks to the BONK airdrop that ended up being worth more than the phone itself, with the actual device receiving lukewarm reviews. Chapter 2 is half the price of Saga, suggesting that it might not be better in terms of hardware, but clearly punters are excited enough about the airdrops on offer to stump up the crypto.

Airdrop Anticipation Driving Demand

Solana revealed the news on its X feed, noting that there are two days left to order at the $450 price point:

The initial Saga phone gained immense popularity due to the skyrocketing value of the BONK token, distributed as an airdrop with the device. This unexpected surge in token value resulted in Saga phones selling out rapidly and fetching high resale prices on secondary markets like eBay. Solana acknowledged the pivotal role played by the BONK token’s success in driving demand for the original Saga phone and is leveraging this experience to promote the Chapter 2 device.

No Tech Specs

Solana announced Chapter 2 in January but has still not released technical specifications for the phone, opting instead for blind preorders, using the funds to design and build it.

There is no deadline in place for when the phone will be available, but punters will hope that the bull run is still ongoing by the time their airdrops arrive or they might find themselves stuck with nothing but a $450 brick.
