Opera to Launch iOS Crypto Wallet and dApp Explorer

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Opera has announced the launch of its latest mobile browser designed for iOS. Dubbed Opera Touch, it boasts its own crypto wallet, dApp integration and various other web 3.0 functionality. It’s the first mobile browser to launch on the iOS platform offering these capabilities. Opera launched a similar browser for the Android OS back in July last year, a move that gained the company a reputation for being one step ahead in the crypto world. However, the Android OS browser was only a closed Beta launch.

Quick and Easy Crypto Storage

The Opera Touch crypto wallet isn’t designed for long term hodling – after all, who in their right mind would keep all of their crypto on their mobile phone? The wallet supports Bitcoin, Ethereum and all ERC-20 tokens, giving users the ability to top up their wallets before heading out for a day’s shopping – or for a quick lunch break coffee at Starbucks. New wallets are quick and easy to set up, and the user interface is designed so that even someone with very limited technical knowledge can create their own wallet.

Welcoming Web 3.0

Web 3.0 is still getting its feet off the ground, and browsers like Opera are helping it become more mainstream. By allowing users to play with any dApp on the Ethereum blockchain, iOS users will be able to tap into a whole new app store which is jam packed full of exciting new apps built on the blockchain. On top of this, Opera Touch allows users to explore the Ethereum blockchain with its intuitive block explorer – a tool that will certainly come in handy while playing those new dApps!

Crypto Wallets on Smartphones… Again

Crypto wallets on mobile phones is not a new concept. While it certainly makes purchasing items on the go simple and easy, it does have its flaws. If you lose your mobile phone, someone could access and clean out your crypto wallets before you have a chance to get back home and transfer those tokens to a safe wallet. Enjin recently pumped more than 200% on the back of rumors that its crypto wallet will be included on the new Samsung Galaxy S10 – a clear sign that consumers want crypto wallets on mobile phones.

Opera is tearing down boundaries to mass adoption and helping the crypto movement progress faster than ever before. An official launch date has yet to be announced, but we expect Opera Touch to land in the next couple of weeks!
