- Magic Eden has launched its ME token which has a supply of one billion tokens
- The launch process was marred with user complaints due to technical difficulties during the airdrop
- Magic Eden users complained of a complicated process to claim the tokens
A few months after hinting it’s working on a native token, NFT marketplace Magic Eden has launched the ME token. The launch, however, was marred with complaints from users who said that claiming ME during the airdrop window wasn’t a pleasant experience. Among the issues users raised include having the Magic Eden wallet’s mobile and desktop interfaces showing different options during the token-claiming process, which confused some users about which option to use.
Why Complicate the Process?
An X user said that their wallet app froze during the claiming process, with another wondering why the NFT exchange would “make [the process] so complicated.” According to another unhappy user, the “Claim Now” option on the app was inactive.
my app is stuck, can’t claim, people dumping ME like hot cakes. Awesome

Some users also noted that the claiming website went down adding to the difficulty of claiming the token. These issues made some users express dissatisfaction with the exchange and the token saying that they would give away half of their tokens “just to never use this […] mobile app again.”
I would give up 50% of my $ME airdrop just to never use this f*cking mobile app again

Magic Eden Isn’t the Only NFT Project Launching a Token
Magic Eden has yet to comment on the issues or explain what went wrong although it had earlier notified users that it had resolved the glitch on its website. The ME token has a total supply of one billion tokens. Half of the tokens will go to the community with another chunk going to strategic partners.
All should be resolved now!

The launch comes three days after another NFT project, Pudgy Penguins, announced that it will be launching PENGU, a native token meant to boost the NFT project’s fan base.
With Magic Eden users not happy with the token claiming process, it’s to be seen whether this will affect ME’s price.
