Infamous video game company Gamestop now supports Immutable X-based NFTs, allowing Web 3.0 gamers to sell or buy game assets on the retailer’s marketplace. American gamers exploring the Guild of Guardians and Illuvian games will be among those who will be able to trade the NFTs. The move comes approximately nine months after the two platforms announced a partnership in February.

Get Ready for the Biggest Web 3.0 Games

The buying and selling of NFT gaming assets will be available on the Gamestop NFT marketplace which has been around since July this year. However, its support for Immutable X-based NFTs is its first attempt to incorporate game-based virtual assets.

According to Immutable X, Gamestop’s support for NFTgaming assets opens the door for players to experience “the biggest Web 3.0 games” powered by the Ethereum layer-two scaling network. The integration also saves gamers from gas fees charged when trading virtual assets.

Make Room for the Next Billion Web 3.0 Gamers

According to Immutable X co-founder Robbie Ferguson, the move provides the much-needed environment to bring “ the next billion players to Web 3.0 gaming.” Ferguson added that the two firms are committed to exploring the future of “Web 3.0 gaming together.”

Gamestop’s integration with Immutable X also allows gamers to manage their funds.
The news comes roughly nine months after the two firms announced a partnership in February. The deal saw the launch of the Gamestop NFT trading platform in July. Although the marketplace hasn’t recorded impressive usage by NFT lovers, the addition of tradable game assets may help put it in the ranks of Opensea and Magic Eden.
