- Kevin Mirshahi, a 25-year-old cryptocurrency promoter, has been discovered dead in a Montreal nature park
- Mirshahi was being investigated for his role in an investment scheme, Crypto Paradise Island, before his disappearance
- He and three others were abducted after a night out in Montreal earlier this year
Kevin Mirshahi, a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency world, has been found dead months after he was kidnapped in Montreal. His death follows scrutiny from Canadian regulators over his controversial investment platform, Crypto Paradise Island, which raised concerns among authorities. The 25-year-old’s abduction in June 2024 and subsequent death have deepened the mystery surrounding his activities and led to further investigations, although no link to the investigation has been established.
Mysterious Disappearance
Mirshahi was kidnapped early in the morning of June 21 from a luxury condominium on de la Commune Street in Montreal. Three other people were kidnapped from the condo at the same time, leading to a major police operation to find them. At the time of his disappearance, Mirshahi was under investigation for his involvement in Crypto Paradise Island, a digital investment platform advertised on social media and Telegram.
Authorities had raised red flags, suspecting that the scheme might violate securities laws or operate as a fraudulent venture. Crypto Paradise Island was marketed as a high-yield opportunity for enthusiasts in the volatile digital asset market. However, financial regulators had warned that schemes like Mirshahi’s often lack transparency and could pose risks to consumers.
Cause of Death Not Revealed
The other three individuals kidnapped alongside Mirshani were found unharmed approximately 24 hours later near a bus stop in Montreal’s west end, with their testimonies instrumental in advancing the investigation. This led authorities to a residence in Les Cèdres, Quebec, where the alleged murder of Mirshahi is believed to have occurred, with his body discovered last month in Montreal’s Île-de-la-Visitation nature park.
Police confirmed his identity this week but are not making any immediate links to the platform; a spokesperson for the Montreal Police stating, “The investigation is ongoing, and we are actively pursuing all leads.”
