An NFT collection with reported links to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is gaining momentum on OpenSea after the community learned about its links with the respected Web 3.0 figure. Dubbed Gitcoin Presents, the collection celebrates a funding model paper authored by Buterin and two others. According to OpenSea’s data, the collection’s floor price has increased by over 500%, with the trading volume reaching around 12 million in less than a week after its listing on the NFT marketplace.

12 Signature NFTs

Launched by Gitcoin and Metalabel, the collection honors Quadratic Funding, a paper about a public fundraising model written in 2018 with Buterin being among two other contributors. Gitcoin Presents collectibles give holders access to a digital version of Quadratic Funding plus additional notes from Gitcoin founders outlining how the funding has been used in the Web 3.0 world.

According to available information, the funding model has raised over $70 million. The profits from the collection will go towards funding open-source projects. Collectors minted 9,221 collectibles with 12 NFTs being labeled as “Signature Edition” and available for minting at around $15,000 each.

Is Buterin Really Involved?

The special NFTs offered collectors access to the hard copy of the original paper that has hand signatures from Vitalik Buterin, Zoë Hitzig, and Glen E. Weyl. Despite its rising interest on OpenSea, some have questioned whether Vitalik is really involved with the collection or its fame is just riding on his name.

With Buterin yet to confirm or deny his association with the project, the project is yet to attract the attention of respected NFT collectors.
